Edinburgh
The Edinburgh Vaults are chambers inside the nineteen arches of South Bridge, completed in 1788; after flooding they became slums, illegal taverns and a hidden whisky still, and today host ghost tours. In 1828 William Burke and William Hare murdered sixteen people in Edinburgh and sold the bodies to anatomist Robert Knox for dissection.
